Lycanthia, formally the Lycanth Republic is a member of the Alliance of Independent Nations located on a small island in the Coral Sea off the East coast of New South Wales, Australia. Lycanthia is a protectorate of the Republic of Arcacia.
Origin of the name Lycanthia
Lycanthia roughly translates to "Land of the Wolf." It was so named after French settlers found the island was home to dingos, a native Australian canine.
History of Lycanthia
Lycanthia was first settled in 1842 by French explorers as a stop on the route between Sydney and Arcacia. A walled city was founded in an attempt to protect it from a potential invasion from the British, which never came. It remained an overseas territory of France until gaining independence in 1929.
The Republic fell on hard times in 2009, suffering massive losses as a result of the global financial crisis. The country's debt skyrocketed and Lycanthia was on the verge of bankruptcy. In order to avert the total collapse of the economy, Lycanthia signed an amicable agreement, becoming a protectorate of the Republic of Arcacia, effective from 2010.
Climate
Lycanthia's climate is temperate/sub-tropical warm Summers and cool to mild Winters.
